Rep. Porter Goss(R-FL), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has been nominated to be the new Director of Central Intelligence. He's been an excellent water-carrier for the Bushistas - so much so that when asked about investigating the Valarie Plame case, he said

the worst...in the history of the job. We in the public need to be confident that intelligence is not being skewed for political purposes.... To put somebody who is so highly partisan in this job will further diminish public confidence in our intelligence.One hopes that he'll be in office for only the couple of months between his confirmation (mid-September at the very earliest) and John Kerry's inauguration.
