Atrios says "Oy" - I feel about the same
And these SOBs are worried about gay marriage?
Read it and weep for the world.

(CBS) For decades, priests in this country abused children in parish after parish while their superiors covered it all up. Now it turns out the orders for this cover up were written in Rome at the highest levels of the Vatican.
CBS News Correspondent Vince Gonzales has uncovered a church document kept secret for 40 years.
The confidential Vatican document, obtained by CBS News, lays out a church policy that calls for absolute secrecy when it comes to sexual abuse by priests - anyone who speaks out could be thrown out of the church.
The policy was written in 1962 by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani.
The document, once "stored in the secret archives" of the Vatican, focuses on crimes initiated as part of the confessional relationship and what it calls the "worst crime": sexual assault committed by a priest" or "attempted by him with youths of either sex or with brute animals."
Bishops are instructed to pursue these cases "in the most secretive way...restrained by a perpetual silence...and everyone {including the alleged victim) ...is to observe the strictest secret, which is commonly regarded as a secret of the Holy Office...under the penalty of excommunication."
Read it and weep for the world.
Why does Ahnold hate the Republican Congress and Administration?
The Terminator himself says he's running for California Governor because Gray Davis desn't deserve the job after having turned a $9 Billion surplus into a $35 Billion deficit. If that's really the reason, then he should also be out on the stump for every Democratic candidate for national office, since the House, the Senate, and the White House, Republican bastions all, have taken us, in 2 years, from a $250 Billion surplus (with forecasts of trillions in surplus) to $500-plus Billion in deficits (I know, the news always says $450 Billion - but they're not counting the $50++ Billion that Iraq is costing us). Projected long-term deficits, no longer surpluses, in the multi-trillions.
So much for the Republican's careful stewardship of the economy.

Yeah - WMD again
I was out in the car, NPR News on the radio ... they reported on a lawsuit (heard by Thomas Penfield Jackson, of Microsoft fame) to prevent the DOD from proceeding with the incineration of 22,000 tons of chemical warfare agents - primarily nerve and mustard gasses, that we had stockpiled.
So we have them, for real...and we CLAIM we're destroying them. Oughtn't we to be invaded, occupied, and the government toppled, by a coalition of the willing??? Ohh - I forgot - we're the righteous ones with God on our side - so everyone should trust us to be honest, forthcoming, and non-threatening ... Right???

Not a lot going on in Mapleberry these days - mid-summer doldrums.
There's plenty in the world at large, and I'd be posting about it (I still probably will), but others tend to do it far better than I (see the links on the right-hand side of this page for some of the better bloggers).
